BLACKMAILER: someone who is blackmailing or targeting dom for whatever reason. maybe someone who is obsessed with her or somehow knows her family that she is estranged from is incredibly wealthy. or maybe she did something to warrant it. this is one of my less fleshed out ideas, but feel free to contact me about it and we can discuss the why's and how's of it.
EX-FIANCÉ: the person dom was arranged to marry by her family before she left home at sixteen. i don't imagine they really knew each other beyond maybe attending the same school and seeing one another at events and parties hosted by their respective families and connections. their personality and dynamic can be whatever we choose.
RIVAL: someone dom knew when she was attempting to become a performer. they had a great dislike for each other upon meeting and were incredibly competitive. the person made it into a company and has debuted since to immense success, where as dom by comparison is in a smaller company and is still a trainee. they probably have not seen one another in around a year or so.
OLD CLASSMATES: people dom went to school with growing up. the school would've been well known in the area and private, meaning it was expensive unless you had a scholarship. classmates would've potentially known her as a troublemaker and someone who constantly did poorly in school, if they knew her at all.
FRIENDS: anyone who is willing to put up with dom's antics and dramatics on a daily basis. anyone who is willing to have fun. literally anybody can fill this role, she's always looking for new people to interact with.
COUSINS: the children of dom's maternal uncle. they resented her due to the fact that their father adored her. their relationship has always been fraught with tension and pettiness on all of their parts. the pair were most likely gleeful when they found out dom ran away from home. she has not seen them in four years. you must have a korean faceclaim to fill this role.
CURRENT OR EX-FLINGS: people dom has been involved with in the past and present. it could be someone she had her first time with to someone she met at the coffee shop last week. i would prefer that there be a mutual attraction between both characters before we for sure establish that they're sexually involved.
HISTORY
her world seemed small and gleaming, the pearl resting in the crest of a crown. one only needed to look at the fine silks draped across their skin, the jewels adorning their ears, the house with so many windows a slight breeze might shatter it to pieces, to conclude that she had the world at her fingertips. yes, she had everything, but she owned nothing.
like a bird in its gilded cage, each day was controlled and held at ransom, monitored down to the minute to make certain that she was on task. her time was far more precious than any item in their home, priceless in dom's parents eyes. they planted a reality of their own making in her heart on the day of her birth: she would grow up to be a doctor, a tech industry tycoon, a genius who graduated college years before her peers.
it was apparent by age sixteen that these roots had never taken hold. they kept a watchful eye on her grades, sent her to the best school in their region, hired tutor after tutor, and still, all attempts to cultivate her into a mold of their own making failed. their hands doled out her fate, but she did not accept it. with every push back, every rebellion, she tarnished the family image they attempted to reflect. the fragile world of manipulations and deceit they had built threatened to topple, threatened to ruin them.
it was at this age her parents arranged her marriage to another powerful family, her only value to them what alliance she could bring when she was finally of age to marry. and it was at this age that she abandoned her cage.
with only one suitcase to her name, dom turned to the only true skills she had in order to survive — music and dance. for the first time in her life, she worked at something she wanted, done with simply fantasizing. but not all dreams come to fruition; some are torn and dismantled, trampled and decimated; sometimes it is by the waking of reality or steered by the hand of someone else.
two years had come to pass with little to no progress to show for it. while working towards her dream — which seems to shrinking by the day — she picked up a second job at a local, small coffee shop in order to sustain herself.
